The Burlington community is mourning the unexpected passing of William Smith, our dedicated Community Editor at The Burlington Beacon. William’s sudden departure, following a brief illness, has left us all in shock and grappling with a profound sense of loss.
William was instrumental in the very genesis of The Beacon, helping to launch our Facebook page in 2019. From those early days, he poured his passion for local news into every story, becoming an indispensable voice for Burlington. His dedication never wavered, and he remained a constant presence, committed to informing and connecting our community.
Beyond his work with The Beacon, William also lent his voice to local radio, broadcasting news for 107.3 The New Mix and 101.7. While he loved the written word, the irony isn’t lost on us that he, the storyteller, would be the one to deliver such difficult news.
