Gabriel Moore,One Dead,Three Injured in Suspected DUI Crash, Route 12

MARTINSBURG – A fatal collision on Route 12 Saturday evening has claimed the life of a Lewis County man and left three others hospitalized, authorities reported. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, which they believe involved a drunken driver.

The victim has been identified as Gabriel Moore, of Constableville. According to deputies, Moore was traveling southbound in his 2012 Ford F-350 pickup truck around 6:30 p.m. on January 31st. His vehicle reportedly veered into the northbound lane of Route 12, resulting in a devastating head-on collision with a 2022 Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as Mark Vaughn of Copenhagen, sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital along with two other individuals who were passengers in the vehicles. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with a strong focus on the suspected impairment of the driver who allegedly crossed into the oncoming lane. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by driving under the influence.
