The Chelsea Police Department is mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant, retired Sergeant Thomas McNeil, who passed away recently. Sergeant McNeil’s career with the department spanned nearly three decades, a testament to his unwavering commitment to the Chelsea community.
His journey began in June 1975 as a Reserve Police Officer, quickly transitioning to a full-time role in November of the same year. Over the years, Sergeant McNeil demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, culminating in his promotion to Sergeant on October 4, 1993. He proudly served until his retirement in July 2004, leaving behind a legacy of nearly 30 years of service.

Colleagues and residents alike remember Tom McNeil as a kind and caring individual who consistently delivered high-quality police services. Whether on uniformed patrol or serving as a detective, he approached his duties with professionalism, compassion, and a quiet, unwavering dedication that earned him widespread respect.
