Woman Discovered Deceased in Apartment Fire in East Dallas

A somber discovery was made in East Dallas on Sunday evening when authorities found a woman deceased on a burned mattress inside her apartment. The incident unfolded around 6:40 p.m. when Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to an alarm at a first-floor unit in the 2300 block of Highland Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a situation where no one answered the door. They were forced to make entry into the apartment. Inside, crews discovered the woman positioned on the remains of a heavily burned mattress.

Firefighters immediately removed her from the unit, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining flames were quickly extinguished, and the “all clear” was given by 7:26 p.m.

The exact cause of the fire and the woman’s death are currently under investigation. Authorities are awaiting the official findings from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office to shed light on this tragic event. The community is left with questions as the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding this devastating loss.
